GO WITH THE FLOW, 2020
exterior mural on 700 sq ft bridge underpass

Go with the Flow is inspired by the Uncompahgre River and commissioned by the City of Montrose for the 700 square foot West Main Street underpass along the Connect Trail. This mural presents a cross-section of the river environment, stressing stewardship and harmony between the natural and recreational uses. The state fish, a greenback cutthroat trout, swims in the currents below as local boaters surf the rapids above. Native flora thrive along the river’s banks and the distant mountain ranges are visible on the southwest horizon.

Beautifying a concrete infrastructure is uplifting for a community in its own regard but reinforcing a message for stewardship of multi-use spaces is paramount. This artwork will captivate users of the Connect Trail, reminding them of the harmonious existence of many creatures that thrive with the river. Honoring the importance of balanced relationships through art is critical to the health of a community and its environment.
