The See Trees Crew at the Red Room Launch Party – June 2019

The Tree Tribe is an awesome
Crew of Creative Collaborators!

See Trees’ development hinges on the collective energy from creators with a wide range of skills & backgrounds. We love honoring mother nature and challenging ourselves to expand our perception of the world and engage others in critical, conscious discourse. As interconnected beings, we recognize the need to work together and practice sustainable ethos as we share our visions!

Field Research

Inspired by the vast aspen groves of Colorado, See Trees’ evolution stems from trails in remote settings and meditations with nature. We are constantly exploring dynamic settings to install our work and engage new audiences. Please contact us if you would like to join the See Trees experience and help present public art for the people!

Community Dance Participatory Opportunities:
See Trees Dance Score

A site specific community dance score will be organized, designed and choreographed by dance facilitator, Sasha Chudacoff at See Trees during the week.  This performance happening or offering will be open to any and all movers who wish to participate.  Much like a music score, a score can be created for dance as well. A dance score is a structured improvisation for exploration. It involves a plan, some preparation and a map or terrain for dance/movement with a specific site. It allows space for play and the unknown.  Sasha will offer a simple improvisational score through which to investigate the use of human bodies and movement with the See Trees. Butoh-inspired movement score will be facilitated and performed/offered all on site. The choreography will be a very simple follow the leader type situation so anyone that wants to, could join. There is no limit on dancers, I would like at least 10 and hopefully more! The score will evolve depending on the group. The movement themes and generation of choreography and gestures that Sasha will set will be based on questions such as:

What do you see when you look at a tree? What does the tree see in you?

concept 1

What does the internal life and structure of a tree actually look like? I would like to see and experience the internal workings of a tree much like a window into the  human body. I would like to see what a tree’s internal body or universe does during its lifetime. The plant intelligence and systems could be speed up to witness them in fast forward. Veins of water, bugs delivering things or infections like bark beetles or worm, evaporation cycle, cells of the tree ( dead ones and the vital ones), decay, new growth, ecological and evolutionary brilliance and destruction. Ideally, this could be depicted in a 3d cylinder diorama.

concept 2

What is a tree only sees or feels or intuits shadows and light. This tree would be based all around the concept of shadows: human shadow side, shadow side of our environment, shadow side of technology, ect… This tree would explore light and shadow- the  paradox of all things. This would be a series or collection of shadow photography of visual diversity of shadows…

concept 3

Peep into a tree and see industrialization, imperialism, environmental and ecological damage, freeways, industry, capitalism, corporations. This could be done through a video loop of images or actual photos of these concepts and ideas. The photos could cover the inside of a tree as a photo collage.  A cube may work best for collage

concept 4

Show and share the alpine environment and mountain landscape of where these trees come from like Crested Butte. Big snow globe, mountains, icesicles and the animals and insects of the high alpine environment of CO.

concept 5

A naturalistic shrine of visual splendor that draws the viewer into stamped and imprinted pottery. It will evoke a feeling of fullness with its elaborate decoration, visual nourishment inspired by the earth itself. The “busy” black and white flat ceramic pieces will depict floral patterns, plantlife, spirals, tribal-looking line carving and stamped with objects. Stones, feathers, crystals, and shells surround the handmade pottery pieces. This is a visual offering to the burning man attendees… I seek to honor the moment that the viewer takes to look into the eyes, and reward and surprise them with something that honors the beauty of earth and evokes feelings of wellness.

concept 6

Child’s Play – This display seeks to honor and surprise the viewer with shiny, unexpected objects—antiques, figurines, glitter (safely embedded in glue!), shells, and items of beauty and wonder. This scene would evoke the child self, create a world of wonderment, and make the mind wander to memories evoked, or perhaps bring the viewer to a completely new moment of complete presence. Nostalgia and visual delight would be the objective of this aspen eye glimpse.

concept 7

A scene to honor the moment of the viewer, it would support the inner-sight of the viewer with the words “you deserve your unconditional presence” “i honor your moment” “i see your importance” “you ARE”… It would seek to reflect upon the viewer the significance of their inner world. Visually i would do this with a mixture of the old and new, the natural and the shiny—objects creating a scene of surprising wonderment.
